My cousin told me that I should start a blog to document my daughter's life. I wasn't sure if that was what I wanted to do. I've followed my sister and brother-in-law's blog for quite a while and I checked out my cousin's. I decided that I wanted to use mine in a little different way. Rather than just document Cameryn's life, I decided to post my experiences as a mother. So far motherhood has been a rollercoaster ride. Hopefully you will get some enjoyment out of my learning curve. Maybe I'll be able to help some of you first time mothers and maybe some of you will have some good advice for me.
I've always loved kids and knew that some day I would become a mother. In October 2009 I found out that 'sometime in the future' was going to be the coming Summer. This began the most exciting yet scariest journey of my life...and it's only just beginning.
I was like most women that are excited to become pregnant - I couldn't wait to start showing, feel the baby move, and decorate the nursery. Pregnant women are so cute with their big, basketball shaped bellies. I was looking forward to this. However, I am not tall. I am not even average. I am short. And I'm not exactly built like Barbie. I didn't end up with a cute basketball belly - I gained weight in my whole body. I was so sad that I didn't look pregnant. Also, I happened to be pregnant at the same time as one of my good friends and my sister-in-law. They were both lucky enough to have the cute basketball belly. People asked them when they were due and what sex the baby was. People didn't even notice that I was pregnant.
However, I got to make up for this by having an extremely easy pregnancy. I did not suffer from morning sickness at all. I didn't have any of the strange cravings although the baby was picky about what she liked and what she didn't. She did not like coffee or BBQ. She loved baked potatoes and poptarts. I did get indigestion a lot but was never sick. The worst part of my pregnancy was swollen feet and ankles. By the time I had Cameryn I only had one pair of flip flops that I could still wear. It's sad when you can't even get your feet into sandals.
Even though I looked fat - not pregnant, I enjoyed being pregnant. I loved every ultrasound (we had 4 due to baby weighing small) and I even liked the doctor visits just because I could hear her heartbeat. I've loved her since the moment I found out I was pregnant and even the worst of teething couldn't make me change my mind.
For your enjoyment, my sister-in-law and me at my baby shower. This picture was taken approximately four weeks before Cameryn was born and approximately five weeks before my niece was born. Can you guess which one is me?
